NHIS Week Celebration climaxed in Takoradi with thanksgiving

Takoradi, Nov. 22, GNA – The Western Regional Directorate of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has climaxed its week-long celebration with a Thanksgiving Service at the Bethel Methodist Church in Takoradi to show appreciation to God for a successful week celebration.

The Western Regional Directorate took part in the National NHIS week-long activities from Tuesday, November 16 to Sunday, November 21, 2021, with an aggressive registration drive in the communities within the various Districts.

The staff of the Scheme used the Thanksgiving Service to sensitize the church members on steps to link the NHIS Card to the Ghana Card as well as membership renewal, using the mobile platform by dialling the shortcode *929# and following the prompts.

They also sensitized the church members on a waiver that has been put on the one month waiting period and called on the members to go and renew and register for new instant cards.

Mr Charles Osei Amoako Enti, Takoradi Branch Manager of NHIA, told the GNA on the sidelines of the service, said officials of the NHIS were in the various communities and churches to register new members and renew membership of those whose cards expired.

He announced that non-members of the Scheme, including some traditional rulers, took advantage of the special registration exercise and enrolled on the Scheme during the week.

He expressed the hope that the celebration would hype awareness creation, enrollment of new members, membership renewals, monitoring and support visits.

Ha said the Scheme’s Regional and District management teams would continue to step up their efforts in registering staff of corporate institutions, community residents and religious bodies, among others.

Mr Enti assured members of the Scheme, who have fallen victims to co-payment, that efforts were underway to retrieve their money and bring the perpetrators to book.

He said top executives of the Authority would continue to support the District and Regional management teams’ determination to increase membership of the Scheme.
