Kotoko continue unbeaten run as they defeat Eleven Wonders

Kumasi, Nov. 20, GNA – A goal in each half was all Asante Kotoko needed to maintain its fine form as they beat Techiman Eleven Wonders at the Baba Yara Stadium on matchday four of the 2021/2022 league season.

Samuel Boateng and Isaac Oppong, both new signings, scored the goals in the 28th and 7th minutes respectively to secure all three points for the Porcupine Warriors.

It was the visitors who made early incursions into the half of Asante Kotoko but failed to punish them few chances that came their way.

They created the first decent chance of the game in the 8th minute, forcing Kotoko’s goalkeeper, Razak Abalora to make a brilliant save to prevent an early upset.

Kotoko, however, took control of the game from the 12th minute and dictated the pace from the middle of the park with Fabio Gama, Mudasiru Salifu, and Richard Boadu outplaying their opponents.

Eleven Wonders began to commit mistakes in their vital area as Kotoko pinned them to their own half of the pitch.

It was as a result of one of such defensive blunders that Samuel Boateng capitalised on to unleash a thunderbolt at the far-right side of the post in the 28th minute.

The Porcupine Warriors continued their dominance until Referee Charles Bulu brought proceedings to an end for the first half of the game.

Wonders came back strongly in the second half, causing incessant problems for the Kotoko backline in their quest for the equaliser but all their efforts yielded no results.

Their hope of getting back into the game was, however, dashed in the 77th minute as Isaac Oppong scored Kotoko’s second goal through individual brilliance.

Fabio Gama delivered a defence-splitting pass to the young chap who raced into the 18-yard box after going round a defender of Eleven Wonders after which he planted the ball at the blindside of the keeper, sending the home fans into wild jubilation.

The visitors refused to give up and gave Kotoko some nervous moments in the later stages of the game but not enough to fetch them a consolation goal.

Asante Kotoko, therefore, remains the only team that has won all the opening four matches of 2021/2022 Ghana Premier League season.
