Accra, Nov. 21, GNA – Accra Great Olympics produced the best comeback of the season thus far when they drew 3-3 against Dreams FC in a match-week four encounter of the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League.
The “Dade Boys” were three goals down on the half-hour mark but a brace from Maxwell Nii Abbey Quaye and a goal from Samuel Armah ensured Great Olympics maintained their unbeaten start to the season.
Dreams FC started the game in blistering fashion as Philemon Baffour scored in the fifth minute after heading in from close range.
Fatawu Issahaku doubled the lead for the away side with a sublime left-footed strike from 30 yards with Great Olympics with the masterclass from the Black Stars player.
Issahaku scored his second goal of the game when he dazzled past Jamaldeen Haruna and slotted the ball past Gabriel Nudakpa just at the half-hour mark.
Great Olympics were stunned with the three goals from Dreams but Abbey Quaye got Great Olympics back into the game in the 34th minute after he struck home from 12 yards after referee Awurisa Andrews adjudged a handball incident against Dreams defender Abdul Jaliu.
The game was certainly fascinating in the last quarter of the first half but Dreams held onto their two-goal cushion going into recess.
Great Olympics started the second half on the front foot and were the much better side as they pressed the Dreams defense as they quest to pull parity.
Great Olympics defender James Akaminko who had a solid outing for the ‘Dade Boys’ was brought down in the penalty box and referee Awurisa gave Olympics their second penalty of the day.
Abbey stepped up and struck his six-goal of the season and gave the home side a lifeline as they looked to level the scores.
It was a shocking out by the Dreams lads as they struggled to create any clear-cut chances in the second as they were kept on the back foot by the Great Olympics’ attack.
Substitute Armah did level matters for the home side when he struck in from close range after he was teed up by Abbey Quaye in the 84th minute.
Great Olympics finished the game with 10 men after Raymond Oko Grippman was sent off after a deliberate reckless tackle on Dreams defender Victor Oduro.
Both sides shared the spoils in a fascinating six-goal thriller.
