BECE commences smoothly in Korle Klottey Municipality with nurses at centres

Accra, Nov. 15, GNA – The 2021 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) has started smoothly in centres in the Korle Klortey Municipality today, Monday, November 15, 2021, with nurses at the centres for emergencies, including COVID-19.

Apart from the late start of the examination at one centre, no major irregularity was recorded.

At the Calvary 1 Exams Centre, Adabraka, in the Korle Klottey Municipality, Madam Pearl Anipa, Supervisor at the Centre, said 319 candidates from eight schools were writing the examination.

She said out of the number, five were absent but failed to assign reasons.

Madam Anipa attributed the late start of the examination at the Centre to late arrival of the examination papers and shortage of answer booklets.

The Ghana News Agency (GNA) observed that COVID-19 protocols were being observed strictly.

When GNA visited the Accra High School Centre, the examination was in progress with strict adherence to all Covid-19 safety protocols, with a nurse under a shed.

Ms Noelle Boateng, the Supervisor, said 174 candidates from six schools were writing the examination, with three absent.

She said those absent were writing the Cambridge exams.

A total of 571, 894 candidates are writing the examination this year at 2,158 centres nationwide.

Mathematics and Basic Design and Technology will be written tomorrow, Tuesday, November 16.
