Sagnarigu(N/R), Nov. 13, GNA – The Sagnarigu Youth Parliament has advised Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates not to engage in examination malpractices.
Mr Issahaku Abdul-Latif, Speaker of the Youth Parliament, who gave the advice, said engaging in malpractices could jeopardise their progress in future and warned them to desist from such acts.
He was speaking to final year students of selected schools within the Sagnarigu Municipality to climax the Youth Parliament’s ‘BECE Outreach Programme’, at Sagnarigu in the Northern Region.
The Programme, a month-long initiative, was carried out in October this year to among other things inspire, motivate and encourage BECE candidates to prepare adequately to successfully write their examination.
It was organized with support from YEFL-GHANA and the Sagnarigu Municipal Directorate of the Ghana Education Service (GES).
Mr Abdul-Latif encouraged the students to study hard and be confident to come out with flying colours.
Alhaji Sulemana Yakubu, Head of Supervision at Sagnarigu Municipal GES, reiterated the need for the students not to panic during the examination and said they should abide by the rules and regulations governing the examination.
“This examination marks the starting point of your lives, so you must face it with courage and pass successfully,” he noted.
Alhaji Andani Zakaria Abdulai, Guidance and Counselling Trainer at Sagnarigu Municipal GES, called on parents of final year BECE students to support them both financially and psychologically to help the students pass their exams.
Madam Stella Tanko, Headmistress of Sagnarigu Girls Model Junior High School (JHS), expressed gratitude to the Youth Parliament for the initiative and expressed confidence that the students would pass their exams successfully.
Master Julius Essel, a final year student of Bagabaga Model Block B JHS, who spoke to the Ghana News Agency on the sidelines, said the Programme had been supportive and hoped to write the upcoming examinations successfully.
