Banks urged to support Assembly to improve security in Tamale

Tamale, Nov. 10, GNA – Mr Sule Salifu, Tamale Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), has called banks operating in the Tamale Metropolis to partner with the Tamale Metropolitan Assembly (TaMA) to devise stringent mechanisms to enhance security in the area.

This, he said would help to prevent violence and other activities that threatened the progress of commercial activities in the Metropolis.

He said this when he visited some banks in Tamale, to formally introduce himself as the newly appointed MCE of the area.

Mr Salifu said insecurity issues in Tamale was one of the challenges that needed sustainable partnership to resolve and the banks had key roles to play to improve on the situation.

He appealed to management of the banks to put in place efficient measures to provide safe environment for their customers.

Mr Jamaideen Sumaila, the Acting Northern Regional Manager of Stanbic Bank, said crime rates had increased in the Tamale Metropolis in recent times, adding that, the situation was alarming especially to them as Bankers.

He gave the assurance that the banks would build strong partnership with the TaMA to ensure appropriate actions were taken to help protect lives and property within the Metropolis and its environs.

Mr Abdul-Farawu Haruna, the Branch Manager of Republic Bank in Tamale, reiterated his bank’s commitment to collaborate with security agencies to provide the necessary resources and facilities that would help to execute their mandates diligently.

Mr Musah Tahiru, Deputy Operations Manager of Prudential Bank Limited, said his organisation would join forces with TaMA to assist and promote security to help bring the needed development in the Metropolis.
