2021 ACCC: Royal Ladies thrash Delta Queens to win gold

Accra, Nov. 30, GNA – The female hockey team of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), Royal Ladies, defeated the Delta Queens of Nigeria 3-0 in the final match of the Africa Cup for Club Champions (ACCC) 2021 female division.

The match played at the Theodosia Okoh Hockey pitch saw the Royal Ladies walk away with the ultimate in the women’s division.

The first quarter of the game ended goalless though GRA kept putting pressure on the Delta Queens.

It was Linda Effah Barnie of GRA who scored in the second quarter with an assistance from captain of her team, Elizabeth Opoku, giving her team the much-needed momentum to continue pressuring the Delta Queens’ defence.

Ernestina Coffie and Antwi Doris scored in the third quarter to seal the fate of the game.

Head coach of Delta Queens coach Ade in the post-match interview said his team had adequately prepared for this tournament with high expectations but their best was not enough for the final game against the Ghanaian team.

Coach Osei Boakye Yiadom of Ghana Revenue Authority said that his team’s mindset before the tournament was to come for gold and they executed just that.
