Xavi (VR), Oct. 16, GNA – The newly constructed Community-Based Health and Planning Services (CHPS) compound at Xavi in the Volta Region has received a number of hospital equipment and consumables to assist in patients care and improve healthcare delivery at the facility.
The items worth thousands of Cedis included, two new electrically adjustable beds, a special type of Veronica bucket, 10 pieces of bedsheets, gallons of hand sanitizers, and others.
Mr Samuel Benedict Nugblegah, a former Parliamentary primaries aspirant for Akatsi South on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), who is also the Director of Human Resource (HR) at the Christian Health Association of Ghana (CHAG), made the donation during the commissioning and official handing over of the facility at Xavi.
He disclosed, his outfit would not relent on equipping health facilities in the Municipality and beyond with equipment aimed at aiding quality healthcare delivery to members of the public.
“I have over the years donated thousands of items to all our health centers in the Municipality and today is not different.”
He emphasised for everyone to access quality healthcare “since this is a basic right.”
Dr George Nyarko, the Akatsi South Municipal Director of Health Services after receiving the gifts on behalf of the management of the facility, said they arrived at the appropriate time as they needed them to supplement operations at the various departments.
He said the items would ensure strict adherence to the safety protocols of the Coronavirus disease, and improve the working conditions of staff for efficient and effective delivery.
The facility, which was funded by two benevolent individuals, comes with units such as, Pharmacy, labour ward, Antenatal, Reproductive and Child Health (RCH), consulting room, laboratory, washroom, and midwives residence.
It was financed by Mr Joseph Koku Horgle, the Chief Executive Officer of JK Horgle Transport and Company Limited, a leading figure in the Ghana Oil Transport business who is also a native of the area.
Dr John Koku Awonoor, a Medical officer and a Consultant who also hails from the area, was a financial partner in raising the edifice
Dr Awunoor on his part said the gesture was part of their social responsibility to assist developmental projects in the area.”This will improve healthcare delivery and we will continue to make here a big hospital like the Battor Hospital,” he added.
He pledged on behalf of other partners to support in raising the area to become a preferred choice for people.
The event saw Dr Archibald Letsa, the Volta Regional Minister, Directors of Health, Mr Kofitse Martin Nyahe, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Akatsi South, Chiefs and Queen mothers from Avenor under the leadership of Torgbui Dorgloh Anumah VI, Paramount Chief of Avenor and President of Avenor Traditional Council in attendance on the theme “Access to Rural Community Primary Health-care: A basic necessity for the sustenance of life.”
