Accra, Oct. 29, GNA – The World Luxury Awards has recognised Ghana’s Royal Senchi Hotel as the Best Luxury Architecture Design Hotel in Africa.
The 4-star resort received the recognition at a recently held World Luxury Awards 2021 in Mauritius.
This year’s event was hosted by the Trou Aux Biches Beachcomber Golf Resort and Spa and had about 1,000 hotels from around the world nominated for the coveted awards.
A statement on the event said the World Luxury Awards recognised establishments for world-class service excellence.
The awards were presented on a country, regional, continent and global basis, with winners selected by public vote online.
Commenting on the awards, the head of Sales and Marketing of the Hotel, Mr Emmanuel Mensah, said “the Royal Senchi was crafted in the moulds of indigenous ingenuity both in architecture and services”.
He said it was more of a win for Ghana than it was for the Hotel, saying the recognition only reiterated the value of handed-down premodern technology.
“We made effective and creative use of the everyday natural resources endowed us,” he said.
Mr Mensah said there was a lot more indigenous masterpieces to celebrate and show to the world than was being showcased.
The General Manager of the Hotel, Gerard Schraven, said “the picturesque layout of the Hotel structure underpinned our belief in originality.
“The flexuous form of the structure was designed so as to afford guests a view of the lake from their rooms.”
Mr Ikechi Uko, a tourism development consultant, said the award was well deserved, saying, “My first thought of Royal Senchi was of a deliberately designed place to excite your finer senses. Old African yet modern, rural yet cosmopolitan, earthy but arty. A full blend of culturally relevant hospitality architecture that welcomes you to its comfort.”
