Accra, Sept 20, GNA – The final draw of the Vote, Drive, Save-a-Life Campaign intended to buy incubators to save the lives of pre-term babies has been extended to December 18, 2021.
The earlier draw date of September 21 has been extended to coincide with the official sponsorship and fundraising launch of the Foundation in December, to acknowledge sponsors and donors towards saving the lives of about 8,000 pre-term deliveries, annually, in Ghana.
The Campaign is a joint initiative of Toyota Ghana Limited and the Kokrokoo Charities Foundation, which was launched last year to create awareness on safeguarding the peace of the country in the period leading to the 2020 election and beyond.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency on Monday, Mr Dennis Adutwum, the Programmes Director of Kokrokoo Charities Foundation, said “This date will be our unique date in the coming years for ending our fundraising campaign for the year”.
“This will also align with the annual sponsorship launch and fundraiser of the organisers,” he said.
Mr Adutwum said in extending the event, consideration was given to the COVID-19 pandemic and decided to combine what would otherwise be two separate events into a one-off in the third week of December.
Toyota Ghana donated a brand new Toyota Starlet as the ultimate prize to be announced during the draw on the third Saturday of December, 2021.
Kokorokoo Charities Foundation initiated Project 100 Incubators in 2014 with the goal of raising funds to purchase 100 incubators for health facilities across the country to help reduce the mortality rate of pre-term babies (children born before 37 weeks of pregnancy).
“By taking part in the fundraising campaign, participants would contribute towards saving pre-term babies in the country and enter a draw to win a brand-new Toyota Starlet give-away from Toyota Ghana,” Mr Adutwum said.
He said the extension would, therefore, afford more people the opportunity to donate and to stand a chance of winning the ultimate prize.
“Participants are, therefore, required to dial *713*70#, follow the prompts, and donate any amount of their choice to Project 100,” Mr Adutwum said.
He said multiple donations would increase one’s chances of winning the ultimate prize; the Toyota Starlet.
So far the Foundation had been able to purchase 35 incubators and installed in 22 regional and district hospitals.
A needs assessment is currently on-going to identify beneficiary hospitals for installation of a further 15 incubators purchased this year, bringing the total to 50.
Some of the beneficiary hospitals are the Bongo District Hospital, Effia Nkwanta, Ho, and Sunyani Regional hospitals, Tamale, Cape Coast, and Komfo Anokye Teaching hospitals, Agomenya Catholic Hospital, Police Hospital, and the La and Tema General hospitals.
