Bogoso (W/R), Sept. 13, GNA – The Bogoso Health Centre in the Prestea Huni-Valley Municipality of the Western Region has commissioned an ultra-modern medical laboratory to provide quality health care for its clients.
The total cost of the facility was GH¢80,000.00 of which GH¢65,000.00 was raised from the Internal Generated Fund (IGF) while the remaining GH¢25,000.00 was funded by the former Member of Parliament, Mrs Barbara Oteng-Gyasi through her National Health Insurance Fund.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Emmanuel Kofi Tamakloe, the former Municipal Director of Health at Prestea Huni-Valley, said “since l assumed office in 2015, it has been my desire that all health centres within the Municipality will provide one stop service to our clients”.
He said data on the Bogoso Health Centre revealed that many residents did not patronize the facility due to lack of medical laboratory.
Mr Tamakloe explained that “pregnant women who come to us for anti-natals, deliver in other facilities when their time is due. Sharing of health resources are based on skills delivery so when they distribute items to health institutions we get less because of this challenge”.
He added that the Municipal Health Directorate under his stewardship decided to establish the laboratory to help deliver better primary health care for residents of Bogoso and its environs.
He expressed appreciation to the Prestea Huni-Valley Municipal Assembly, Nana Okobeng Amponsah, who constructed the building for the laboratory and other stakeholders for supporting to make the project a reality.
“If you look around, the health centre is gradually becoming a fitting shop l entreat those in charge to ensure that the place is well organized” he indicated.
He again appealed to the Assembly, the traditional authorities as a matter of urgency to take steps to decongest the entrance of the facility particularly during market days, adding that, “we encounter challenges when emergency cases are been referred to the facility”.
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Dr Isaac Dasmani, commended management of the centre for the achievement over the years.
He pledged the Assembly’s commitment to provide medical supplies to the Bogoso Health Centre frequently to ensure that the health care needs of the citizenry were met.
Madam Docia Gyanwaa Ababio, Physician Assistant in charge of the centre, was grateful to the Directorate for the edifice, stressed that, the laboratory is well equipped with expertise and encouraged residents to patronize the facility.
She said “we now have an ultrasound scan so our pregnant women and other patients would save cost and have their results on time for us to give them the best health care”.
The Chief of Bogoso-Kokoase, Nana Akwasi Sompreh II, added that the laboratory had brought a great relief to the municipal health directorate and it would go a long to assist officials of the facility to discharge their duties efficiently.
He charged management of the facility to construct a wall around the health centre to ensure the safety of its staff and patients.
