Akatsi (VR), Sept. 1, GNA – Mr Bernard Ahiafor, Member of Parliament (MP) for Akatsi South has called for vigilance from the public and be wary of fraudsters using fake social media accounts purported to be his to mislead innocent people.
The Ghanaian legislator, who is also a legal expert, in a statement signed and copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), said his attention was drawn to some criminal activities by certain people using his name on social media platforms to extort money from people to secure them jobs such as, recruitment into security services and others.
“The office of Lawyer Bernard Ahiafor is by this, warning those behind this to as a matter of urgency desist from it, and refund monies extorted from innocent people to them.”
It stated “he does not operate through social media or any agent or agency for such activities,” adding “in fact, there are laid down procedures regarding recruitment into security services as published by the Police, Immigration, the Army, Fire Service, Prisons Service, and others.”
The statement disclosed it was a crime for anyone to persuade or to be persuaded to pay for a faster means to get recruited since there was no easier or faster means of getting recruited apart from the laid down structures.
He therefore appealed to his constituents and members from the public to freely approach him for any enquiry or report any foul play to the police for swift response.
