Accra, July 6, GNA – The national amateur boxing team, the Black Bombers of Ghana on Tuesday, presented Golden Tree Chocolates and stoles designed in national colours to their counterparts in the Japanese team.
Led by their Head Coach Akwasi Ofori Asare the Bombers made the presentation after they had sparred with them in Inawashiro on Monday.
According to Coach Asare, the presentation had been part of the tradition of the Bombers during international competitions over the years.
“It is to establish cordial relationships with other boxing teams.
“It is also to show love and friendship, apart from marketing the nation’s popular brand and presenting a nourishing product,” he added.
Touching on their sparring with the Japanese boxers, Coach Asare said it was a request from the coach of the nation of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games which he could not refuse.
He revealed that the sparring helped in assessing the current form of his boxers who proved that they were ready for the tournament.
“We accepted the request because as the host nation, they would have something to share with us, so we gladly accepted the opportunity to assess the readiness of our boxers and it was worthwhile,” he said.
