Accra, July 31, GNA – Sekondi-based club, Hasaacas Ladies FC beat AS Police of Niamey 3-0 to qualify to the semifinals of the TOTALEnergies CAF Women’s League WAFU B qualifiers played at the Robert Stade Champroux in Ivory Coast.
The WAFU B tourney serves as qualifiers for the maiden Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) Women’s Champions league final to be staged in Egypt in November, this year.
A brace from Milot Abena Pokuaa and a goal from Doris Boaduwaa were enough to secure qualification for the Ghanaian team at the ongoing WAFU Zone B qualifiers for the Champions league in Ivory Coast.
Having come from a 0-2 defeat to Rivers Angels in the first Group B match, Coach Yussif Basigi, devised a tactical approach to beat the Niamey team in his quest to represent the country in the final tourney in Egypt.
Boaduwaa and Pokuaa scored Hasaacas first two goals in the first half before the latter added her second to end the match 3-0 in their favour.
After Boaduwaa’s first goal in the 20th minute, AS Police were presented with a golden opportunity 20 minutes after, but, AS Police’s goalie, Ashetu Simpson missed her spot kick which was saved by Hasaacas goalkeeper, Grace Banwaa.
The win in the final Group B match sends the Ghanaian team to the semifinals and would face USFA of Burkina Faso on Monday, August 2.
