Bible Society of Ghana awards winner of its national essay competition

Cape Coast, July 14, GNA – Master Daniel Darkey, a final year General Arts student of the Mfantsipim School emerged winner of a national essay competition organized by the Bible Society of Ghana (BSG) for Senior High School students.

The competition, which saw hundreds of SHS students across the country participating, was held between July and September last year.

The participants were asked to write on the topic “The role of the youth in nation building”, after which the scripts were marked and the winners pronounced.

For his prize, Master Darkey received a laptop and a Bible for himself and a printer for his school.

Presenting the award, Mr Andrew Ntsiful, Central Regional Manager of the BSG, said the essay competition was instituted to motivate the youth to write more to develop their writing skills.

He said the competition was also in line with the vision of the Bible society to equip the youth with the word of God and to bring them close to God and avoid the pleasures of the World.

Mr Ntsiful underscored the need to instil in the youth the right teaching of God, while noting that it was only the word of God that could save them from the troubles of the world.

Receiving his award, Master Darkey commended the BSG for the opportunity and encouraged his colleagues to participate in this year’s competition.

He said he challenged himself by participating in the competition without knowing he would win and added that it had increased his passion for writing.
