Jakarta, June 30, (dpa/GNA) – Seven people were killed and 11 people were missing after a ferry capsized near the port on the Indonesian resort island of Bali, an official said Wednesday.
Strong currents caused the KM Yunice to tip on its side and capsize as the ship was about to reach the Gilimanuk port during a short trip from the Ketapang harbour on Java island late Tuesday, said Gede Darmada, the head of Bali’s search and rescue agency.
At least 39 people were rescued, he said.
“Our focus is now finding the missing people,” he said.
All the passengers were believed to be Indonesian nationals.
