Kadjebi (O/R), June 24, GNA – Mr. Daniel Agbesi-Latsu, the Kadjebi District Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has appealed to the citizenry to participate fully in the forthcoming Population and Housing Census (PHC) exercise since its benefits are enormous.
He said the importance of census facts in planning; policy and decision-making cannot be under-estimated.
Mr Agbesi-Latsu explained that population and housing census data provided a rich source of information for carrying-out demographic, social and economic surveys so there was the need for everyone to get counted.
He was addressing the people of Awudome Kofe in the Kadjebi District of the Oti Region as part of the Commission’s sensitisation programme on the 2021 PHC exercise.
He appealed to them to help generate accurate, actual and factual population data since such statistics were a critical and indispensable source of statistics in the effective implementation of decentralization programmes.
Mr Agbesi-Latsu said the census figures would also be used for equitable distribution of the national cake, identifying the disadvantaged population, formulation of housing policies and programmes, inter-censual survey, among others.
Mr Richard Kwashie Segbawu, a Principal Field Officer of the NCCE said Ghana as well as Kadjebi District needed accurate, reliable and factual data for use, so they must give the enumerators accurate information.
Mr Segbawu said the data garnered on the District would be used for planning, budgeting and effective policy implementation on the district, therefore electorates must avail themselves to be counted.
Mr Kabi Nyande, the Assembly member for Okanta Electoral Area, thanked the NCCE educative team and called for more of such programmes.
Similar programmes were held at Kordibenu-Francis, Kadjebi, Menuso, Dzindziso, among others.
