Accra, June 29, GNA – The Kwame Nkrumah Ideological Institute has described the late former President of Zambia, Kenneth Kaunda, as a “Mambi Soldier of African generations.”

“The ultimo Mambi member of the founding army of the OAU/AU has fulfilled his mission and is now part of the spiritual realms.”

A news release from the Institute, paid a glowing tribute to the former Zambian Leader and urged current seekers of African Union government, to honour the memory of past great Pan-Africanists like the late Kaunda, by proceeding on the back of their ideas and ideals.

“The KNII proposes that the mortal remains of former President Kaunda, the last survivor of the founding Fathers of the AU/OAU, be placed at the conference hall of the AU in Addis Ababa for viewing,” the release said.

Former President Kenneth Kaunda, Zambia’s first President and an icon in the fight against colonialism, died at the age of 97 after falling ill on June 17, 2021 in Lusaka, Zambia.
