Kadjebi (O/R), June 28, GNA – The Kadjebi District in the Oti Region heralded the 2021 Population and Housing Census (PHC) Night with siren blowing, street float and ‘Borborbor,’ a popular dance, to drum home the demand for total coverage.
Mr Maxwell Kofi Asiedu, the Kadjebi District Chief Executive (DCE), appealed to the people to take keen interest in the exercise as it had massive benefits.
“Avail yourselves to be counted and give factual information since the district needs accurate, reliable and factual data for use,” he said.
He said the data generated would be used for planning, budgeting and effective policy implementation, hence the importance for all to be counted.
The DCE said the district needed to be upgraded to a municipal status and that could only be achieved when everyone participated fully in the exercise.
He said the census figures would also be used for equitable distribution of the ‘national cake,’ identify the disadvantaged population, and formulate housing policies and programmes among other things.
Mr Jibril Fuseini, the Kadjebi District Census Officer, called on the enumerators to endeavour to collect scientific facts and true data for national development.
He urged them to work diligently for the district to derive the maximum benefits from the PHC, adding that they must be humble in approaching their respondents.
Mr Fuseini appealed to those who might not be counted at the end of the exercise to go to his office for enumeration.
Present at the programme were Messrs Eric Nana Takyi, District Director of Ghana Health Service, Daniel Agbesi-Latsu, NCCE District Director, Adams El-Alpha Mustapha, ISD District Director, and George Bekoe, the Kadjebi District Field Supervisor.
