Dunkwa-on-Offin, June 25, GNA – The Upper Denkyira East Municipal Police Command is collaborating with Assembly members to form a voluntary security task force in the various electoral areas to help curb the upsurging crime and insecurity in the area.
The Dunkwa Municipal Police Commander, DSP Jones Edmund Affutu, told the Ghana News Agency at Dunkwa that the task force would patrol the various electoral areas at night to assist the police to combat crime.
He said some of the criminal activities in the Municipality include mobile phone snatching, weed-smoking and robbery.
Superintendent Seidu Babanyinah, the Upper Denkyira Municipal Commander of the Ghana Immigration Service, said the Service had instituted stringent measures to deal with foreigners, who are illegally operating in the Municipality.
Meanwhile, The Presiding Member for Upper Denkyira East Assembly, Mr Akwasi Owusu Antwi, has urged the residents to support the security task force that would patrol the various electoral areas at night.
The residents should also help the police by giving prompt information on any suspicious person in their communities.
