Asaase Radio launches ‘Kidney Care Campaign’ to mark 1st anniversary

Accra, June 18, GNA – Asaase Radio, a Pan-African focused multimedia station, has launched the start of the ‘Asaase Kidney Care Campaign’ to mark its first anniversary.

The Accra-based radio station, with affiliates all over the country, earlier in the week marked one-year of operations with a short ceremony attended by members of staff, some members of the Board of Directors and shareholders.

Mrs. Naomi Nelson-Barnes, Head of Marketing, Communications, Events and Promotions at Asaase Radio, said the focus of the kidney care campaign was to educate the public on kidney health and raise money for a Dialysis Machine.

Mrs. Nelson-Barnes said the campaign was adopted “as our project for the first anniversary because we have received several reports of increased numbers of people requiring dialysis support, related to post-COVID kidney issues.”

The station, she said, felt that it was important “To not only raise the awareness but also to do our bit to help people in need of this all-important machine,” and that they would be working closely with the Kidney Society of Ghana to ensure that the machine was put to the best use once procured.

Mrs. Elizabeth Akua Ohene, a Board member of Asaase Broadcasting Company Limited, congratulated the team for the hard work, and urged staff members to continue to strive for excellence.

She said, “It takes a listener or advertiser only five minutes to decide whether to stay tuned in to you, or move on. You must, therefore, make sure that you are always at your best and not be seen to be fluctuating”

Other members of the Board who attended the brief ceremony were: Mr. Gabby Otchere-Darko, the Board Chairman, Mr. Reginald Daniel Laryea, renowned advertising executive, Mr.Joseph Boakye Ofori-Attah and Mr. Ebow Brew-Hammond, Board Secretary.
