Accra, May 8, GNA – Mr Peter Amole, the National Conveyor, Ghana Youth Movement (GYM), a youth based advocacy group, has urged young people to turn their exuberant energies towards the country’s development.
“We seek accountability, equality and fairness towards good governance and young people can play an effective role towards this quest, if the atmosphere is conducive enough,” he said at the launch of the organisation’s website in Accra.
Mr Amole said the country had a lot of young people with productive ideas and skills crucial to national growth and asked them to get involved.
He said the GYM sought to contribute towards a nation that harnessed the skills of young people towards national development, and empowered them through the effective use of their talents.
Mr Amole said the GYM would also promote entrepreneurial skills amongst the youth to enable them to be self-employed instead of relying entirely on the government for jobs.
Mr Ernest Dawuni, the Media Relations Officer, GYM, said the Movement was working on a four-yearly major action plan towards the country’s socio-economic improvement.
“For the first four years of carrying out the action plan, which is from the year 2021 to 2024, we will do developmental tracking of government projects,” he said.
The GYM would also engage in extensive education of the youth on their effective participation to ensure good governance and socio-economic growth.
