Kofi Kwae(C/R), May 31, GNA — Children and Teens In Worship (CTIW) Foundation has presented educational materials to La Vie International Academy in Kofi Kwae Village in the Central Region to enhance teaching and learning.
The donation, which comprises five table-top computers and accessories, three sets of outdoor games, word puzzles, five boxes of toys, game softwares, etc. are to improve academic and extra-curricula activities of a school which has not seen such modern facilities since her inception.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on the sidelines of the presentation on Tuesday, the Ghana Administrator of CTIW, Ms. Ruth Claudia Tetteh, said it was the desire of CTIW “to see children in deprived communities learn and flourish and enjoy what they were learning,” and that has been the driving force behind such donations.
Ms. Tetteh observed that La Vie was a new initiative targeting children in poor communities, “And we thought that was a good idea since that was what CTIW was in for.”
The CTIW Ghana Administrator observed that there were a lot of people who needed help and the Foundation was doing what it could to help them.
Ms. Tetteh said the children at La Vie were so deprived that the proprietor was hoping certain individuals could offer to pay the fees of some of the children so they could learn in peace and enjoy what they were learning.
“So there are a lot of brilliant people out there who are unfortunately in deprived areas who don’t have access to these modern technologies or education. That is why those privileged should help the less privilege,” she stressed.
Ms. Tetteh appealed to persons and organizations to reach out to the children just as CTIW was doing. She also asked other institutions who wanted to be a blessing to such communities to partner CTIW to spread their benevolent tentacles to reach many others.
The Proprietor of the school, Apostle Dr. Mrs. Margaret Boateng, said her community was a typical underprivileged and disadvantaged village which residents, especially children, needed help to aspire to greatness and self reliance.
Apostle Dr. Mrs. Boateng recounted the establishment of the school by saying, “The children have to walk about five kilometres a day to the nearest school from the village, so if a child is not up to the age they can walk that distance, they don’t go to school. That is how come we started this private school, and we are practically running on charity because of the high poverty level in the community.
“So seeing computers and its accessories and the rest is changing the whole face of the institution because the children would be trained to be computer literate, they can have access to puzzles, be abreast with time, among others,” she informed.
Apostle Dr. Mrs. Boateng observed that the donation was a miracle since that was what she had been desiring for and so the school would take good care of the facilities and maximize their use for the betterment of the children.
In her appeal for assistance from other organizations, Mrs. Boateng said, “I basically sponsor everything—cloth the children, feed them, give them everything—so I really need help. My main problem is the feeding and the fees; each pupil is supposed to pay three cedis a day for feeding and fees and everything and even that one is a problem; it hasn’t been easy and I nearly closed down the school.”
La Vie International Academy, which was established in September, 2019, has 55 pupils with three teachers. It is situated at Kofi Kwae Village which is near Agona Nyakrom in the Central Region of Ghana.
CTIW has been at the forefront of providing educational as well as other forms of assistance to deprived schools and communities in Ghana.
Some of the schools the foundation has assisted include Light Academy, Adenta, Dayspring Montesorri International Scbool, Accra, and Seaway Academy in the Central Region where they donated furniture, computers and other accessories with support from Stitching Hamin, Netherlands, and other partners.
