Tema, April 20, GNA – The Potters Village and Arising Star Orphanage at Dodowa in the Shai Osudoku District of the Greater Accra Region have received assorted items from the Tsetseku Lartey Foundation International, a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO).
The items, including six boxes of rice, cooking oil, bottled water, soft drinks, and confectionaries, were to help meet the basic health and nutritional needs of the children.
The Reverend Joseph Lartey, Founder of the NGO, said the donation was also to support the underprivileged and destitute in the underserved communities.
“Some orphans in Ghanaian communities need attention and support in order to impact society positively hence our intervention in these less endowed communities,” he said.
Rev. Lartey said the Foundation had initiated a project dubbed: “Christ is the Answer,” which was not only geared towards supporting orphans but to give hope to widows through evangelism while equipping the physically challenged in society.
He said the project was also to promote quality education among underprivileged young females who were unable to enroll in school due to financial challenges.
Rev. Lartey appealed to NGOs and philanthropists to support the initiative to reach out to needy communities and children across the country to help address their basic needs.
He said the Foundation, over the years, had assisted more than 10,000 children, many of whom were deprived, including support for those in prisons at Akuse and Nsawam.
Rev. Lartey said some schools in the District lacked proper classroom blocks, electricity, teaching and learning materials, canteen, library, and adequate furniture, thus hindering effective learning among the pupils.
He, therefore, appealed to the Government to make conscious efforts to make education accessible to deprived communities across the country.
Mrs Evelyn Hanson, Co-Founder of the Osudoku Global Orphanage who received the items expressed appreciation to the Foundation for their outstanding contribution to enhance the upkeep of the inmates.
