Hohoe Chiefs to crack the whip on ‘noisy’ motorbike riders

Hohoe (V/R), April 01, GNA – Chiefs in Hohoe have called on motorbike riders in the Municipality to desist from “altering and interfering” with the exhaust pipes of their motorbikes in order to stop disturbing the public with excessive noise they make with the bikes.

Togbe Kuttor VIII, Divisional Chief of Gbi Ahado in a release signed and copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) said some riders who altered their pipes, seemed to enjoy the “loud and excessive noise” made by their motorbikes.

He said some riders had engaged in the act for some months now adding that “at times, they ride around late in the night especially around the post office area revving the engines and disturbing the public.”

“All such loud motorbikes are being warned and given one week from 6thh to 13th April to ensure that the noise from their motors is reduced back to normal.”

He said riders who defied the directive would have themselves to blame after the “grace period” elapsed while encouraging residents who identified any rider with an altered exhaust pipe and making excessive noise to report to the appropriate authorities for necessary actions.

Togbe Kuttor entreated all motor riders to comply with the directive and ensure that the noise emanating from their bikes were controlled and normal for their own interest.
