Low-Cost (W/R), April 4, GNA – The Graduate Students Association (GRASAG) of University of Mines and Technology (UMaT) has donated assorted items to the Angels of Hope centre at Low-Cost in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipality of the Western Region.
The items included; learning materials, a microwave, buckets of paints, gallons of hand sanitizer, diapers, wipes, baby foods, bags of rice, biscuits and assorted drinks. Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) after the presentation, President of GRASAG-UMaT, Mr Emmanuel Kweku Kwaansah Owodoo, said an amount of GH¢10,472.00 was spent on the items.
He said the council and the executive committee of the association are also fixing a metalic entrance gate for the centre to protect the children and their property.
Mr Owodoo said the goodwill was aimed to show love to the less privileged in society as the world mark the death and resurrection of Christ.
The President explained that the children need assistance, attention and care to feel a sense of belonging to the society.
He said “it’s a season to show case love to others and we fine it worthy as an association to put smiles on the faces of the needy during such moment”
He appealed to individuals and organizations not to only extend support to the needy and vulnerable in society, but they should take time off their busy schedule and spend some quality moments with them.
Mr Owodoo thanked members of the group for assisting them touch the lives of the children.
Mr Ibrahim Mahmoud, a beneficiary of the centre, who received the items expressed gratitude to the association for the generosity.
