Accra, April 24, GNA – Medeama SC produced a remarkable performance in Obuasi as they stunned Asante Kotoko 2-1 at the Len Clay Sports Stadium on Saturday
Two first half goals from Prince Opoku and Richard Boadu ensured victory for the Mauve and Yellow as they leapfrogged Kotoko to occupy top spot.
Kotoko started the game on the bright note as Emmanuel Gyamfi gave them the opener in the 13th minute after Augustine Okrah’s delightful cross found him unmarked as he headed home for the Porcupine Warriors.
Kotoko were very dominant in the opening half hour but Prince Opoku restored parity for the away with a superb strike just past the half hour mark.

But Medeama took the lead just on the stroke of half time after Boadu’s strike deflected off a Kotoko defender with goalkeeper Abalora left helpless.

Medeama’s captain Tetteh Zutah nearly found the third goal for the away side but his shot went wide.
Kotoko’s biggest chance fell in the second for Godfred Asiamah but his shot from outside the box missed the post by inches.
Kotoko huffed and puffed in the second half to get to the equalizer but they couldn’t as Medeama secured all three points.
