Accra, April 26, GNA – Ghanaian private airline, Goldstar Air, has donated assorted items to the Royal Seed Orphanage at Awutu Ofaakor, in the Central Region.
Mr Eric Bannerman, the Executive Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the Airline, presented the items, made up of sachet water, bottled water, soft drinks, personal protective equipment (PPE) and Goldstar Air branded items, to the children’s home, located on the Kosoa-Bawjiase Road.
He said the donation was done as part of the Airline’s Corporate Social Responsibility, named Goldstar Air Care Foundation.
The Foundation integrates social and environmental concerns in their business operations and interactions with stakeholders.
Mr Bannerman said the Airline presented a sponsorship package to the winner of GBC 80th Anniversary “WHAT DO YOU KNOW” radio quiz contest, and supported “The Sports Beat” on GTV, among others.
The Airline also donated personal protective equipment to the Forestry Commission and Ghana Police Service.
It was also preparing to start operations soon and would initially be flying to twelve destinations: London, Baltimore Washington International Airport, Dubai, and Providence International Airport Guangzhou, he said.
Other destinations are Dakar, Lagos, Monrovia, Abidjan, Freetown, Conakry, Banjul and pending cities, Atlanta-Georgia, Chicago-illinois and Houston-Texas.
He said Goldstar Air was projecting a fleet of more than 100 modern aircrafts to a network of over 90 key business and leisure destinations across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific, Caribbean and North America.
Mr Bannerman said the Airline’s intention, as a wholly owned Ghanaian airline was to build a state of the art and trend-setting aviation industry able to compete within the international market in terms of safety, quality, reliability, punctuality, efficiency and costs.
He expressed the hope that it would improve the Ghanaian economy through the provision of affordable and available international travel and job opportunities.
Madam Naomi Amoah, the Chief Executive Officer of Royal Seed Orphanage, received the items and commended the Airline for the support.
She said the orphanage was started in 1997 and was registered in the 2002 with four children.
The Home, she said, now had over 250 children, including special children, whose ages ranged from eight months to 17 years.
