Donkorkrom (E/R), March 1, GNA – The Kwahu Afram Plains North District Assembly has donated more than 1,000 dual desks, mono desks and teachers tables and chairs to the District Education Office to be distributed to some selected public schools across the district.
The furniture would be distributed to Kindergarten, primary, Junior High and the Senior High Schools.
At a short ceremony to hand over the items to the District Ghana Education Service, Mr Samuel Kena, the District Chief Executive (DCE) said quality education delivery to the people had been government’s major concern, adding that the assembly had done a lot to improve educational infrastructure in the area.
He said the assembly, aside the furniture donation had provided educational infrastructure such as three- unit classroom blocks with ancillary facilities in public schools across the district.
He said the donation was to reduce the deficits in the schools and to enable them observe the social distancing put in place by government to help minimize the spread of the novel corona virus in the country.
Mr Kena therefore assured that the assembly would continue to support the education sector since it was the backbone of every developed country.
Mr Robert Andah Money, the District Education Director, who received the items on behalf of the schools thanked the government and the assembly for the gesture and said it had put smiles on the faces of the pupils and would go a long way to improve academic work in the school.
He pledged that the furniture would be put to good use and maintained regularly.
