Ntotroso (A/R), March 22, GNA-The Centre for Democratic Development (CDD)-Ghana has set up entrepreneurial skills training centres for youth in three towns in the Asutifi North District of the Ahafo Region.
The Skills and Enterprise Village is aimed at giving a month-lonng skills training to 45 youth at Ntotroso, Kenyasi I and Kenyasi II to acquire skills in soap making detergents, welding and fabrication.
The project funded by the European Union would be facilitated by the Asutifi North District Assembly to empower the youth in the area particularly persons with disability to become self-employment.
Professor Henry Kwasi Prempeh, the Executive Director, CDD-Ghana stated that the idea of the project started in 2018 to contribute to the total development saying youth empowerment was a priority for Democratic development.
He said each of the participants would be given GHC 20.00 daily to support their transportation and meals during the 30-day training period which would commence on Monday, March 22, 2021.
According to Prof Prempeh, the participants would be awarded with NVTI Certificates after training by the Accra National Vocational Training Institute (NVTI) adding that participants in soap making would receive GHC5, 000.00 as seed capital and that of welding and fabrication would receive GHC1,500.00 and a set of working tools.
Mr. Paul Mensah Aborampah, CDD programmes officer told the Ghana News Agency in an interview that the projects would go a long way to empower the youth economically to solve the unemployment situation and also end the rural-urban migration.
Barima Twereku Ampem III, the Paramount Chief of Ntotroso admonished the trainees to be serious with the programme and make good use of the opportunity to become useful in the society.
