Tema, Feb. 12, GNA – Tema City Football Club (FC) is set to embark on a special project dubbed “Hinterland Football Talent Hunting”.
It is to scout for young football talents in the hinterland, who are unable to attract the attention of scouts both locally and internationally.
“Much of our focus would be on players from remote villages across the country, since those in Tema are always in the limelight and have greater opportunities,” Mr. Eric Jerry Aidoo told the GNA Sports at Tema.
Mr. Aidoo noted the urgent need to reach out to potential talents who are left out in the hinterlands, “we have young talented footballers outside our big cities, Tema City FC would now offer them the opportunity to develop and hit the limelight in football”.
He said the scouting would seek to give new players the opportunity to join the football club, which would serve as a springboard for them not only to develop their skill, but also to have access to other more advanced football engagements.
Mr. Aidoo revealed that, for the club to do a thorough assessment and come out with the best of talents, Tema City FC would engage the services of top international scouts and a former Ghana international footballer who would also double as the coach of Tema City FC to undertake the hunting.
He advised guardians to allow their children to explore their potentials by taking advantage of the opportunity, which could propel them to higher heights.
Tema City FC, which was founded in July 2017, is one of Ghana’s fastest-growing football clubs registered in the Division Two League of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
The first in a series of activities to scout for the talents would take place on Sunday, February 14 at the Presco Park in Tema, for those between the ages of 15 to 19 years.
