Restaurants offer dispatch delivery service on Valentine Day

Accra, Feb. 15,GNA—Restaurants in parts of Accra, on Valentine Day offered dispatch delivery service due to the ban on seated services to contain the spread of COVID-19.

They said the innovation had become necessary following increasing demands from clients.

Madam Cynthia Oboo, Chief Executive Officer of Eat Right Restaurant, at McCarthy Hill, Accra, said food packages were delivered to customers at their respective locations due to the restrictions on seated services.

She indicated that this year’s Valentine’s Day celebration was different because customers were provided with only “to-go services.”

“This year’s Valentine’s Day celebration has been a little different. Over the years, customers preferred seated services on Valentine’s Day. We usually had the whole place choked with people due to our shows, programmes and different meals but due to the restrictions, we have also devised an innovative way to serve them this time.”

She said they used to have only two dispatch teams but had to add five to meet the high demands.

Madam Oboo, said customers reached them through their contact numbers and placed orders and the type of packaging they preferred, adding that, “customers who are new to our services are told packages we have and they then make a choice and we deliver on time.”

She said all staff, including dispatch riders followed safety protocols to win the trust of clients.

Madam Oboo said Valentine’s Day packages at the restaurants were; “Eat Right Maxi, Eat Right Medium, Family treats and My Vals Treat.”

Mr Kyei Baffour, Chief Supervisor of Nunyah’s Kitchen, said the Restaurant had gotten used to delivering meals to clients and enjoying the patronage.

He said some loyal customers were appreciated with gifts and other food packages.

“Today, we surprised some of our loyal customers who have been with us over the years and they got their packages through our despatch riders. That was how we also wanted to appreciate them since we are in season of love,” he said.

Mr Baffuor said sales had been low but the celebration of Valentine’s Day had made “things better.”

“Today, the orders coming in are unimaginable. Lots of People are patronising us and this has brought improvement is sales.”

“ The dispatch service is not bad. I just ordered from my home and within 40 minutes, I had a call and food was ready. I think we should maintain this. It saves time and money,” Sammy Ansah, a customer of Barista Restaurant at Adenta, Accra, said.
