Accra, Feb. 17, GNA – Annor Walker Head Coach of Accra Great Olympics is excited about his return on the team’s technical bench, after going on sick leave for almost a month.
Coach Walker led Olympics to snatch a lone goal win against Elmina Sharks in a match-day 14 encounter of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League at the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday.
Speaking at a press conference after their victory over Elmina Sharks which took them into the second spot, Coach Walker praised his players for their display that gave him a bright start on his comeback as the Head Coach.
“I thank God for my life because it was not easy during those moments. I am happy to be back to take my up job. Football is a game I love so much and at the moment I am happy at Great Olympics.
“Seriously it wasn’t an easy game like I had thought and I want to thank God and the efforts of my players in getting the win.
“My players did very well to win for me upon my comeback, and I am very happy,’’ he said.
He however stressed the need to augment his squad ahead of the second round of the season and was elated to grab his first signing James Akaminko.
“He (Akaminko) is not a bad player. He is a very good midfielder and he can blend with the other midfielders well. I intend to bring in some more experienced players because most of the players are from the Academy, Division Two and One and the second round is not going to be easy, so we need players who have tasted the Premier League before,’’ he stated.
Great Olympics would finish off the first round with a trip to Techiman, to face struggling, Eleven Wonders.
Coach Walker said “We know Eleven Wonders are currently struggling and any team that plays Olympics wants to put in an extra effort and plan differently considering our position on the league table.
“So going to Techiman won’t be easy but I am going there with a plan to at least get a point.”
