Dalex Finance supports ‘one million face mask’ project

Accra, Feb. 1, GNA – Dalex Finance and Leasing Company Limited has donated GH¢20,000.00 to support the ‘one million face mask project, initiated by Fashion Connect Africa (FCA), to help curb the spread of COVID-19 among the less privileged.

Mr Kenneth Kwamina Thompson, the Chief Executive Officer of Dalex Finance, said; ”As a nation we can collectively fight against the spread with total support to frontline sector workers as well as providing the necessary personal protective equipment to the less-privileged.”

“It is not everyone who can afford the minimum of GH¢1.00 daily to buy a nose mask. We, therefore, consider the FCA one million nose mask project as laudable that is why we are supporting it.”

Mr Thompson, who is also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, told the Ghana News Agency in an interview that even though some recalcitrant individuals may refuse to wear the mask and the other preventive protocols, others genuinely could not afford to buy it.

He called on the corporate world and those who could afford to consistently buy at least one mask daily for someone who could not afford.

“You should not only be interested in protecting yourself and your immediate family or staff, the ordinary person on the street also needs protection in order not to get infected and later transfer to you.”

Meanwhile Mr Acheampong Adjei, Manager in Charge of Dalex SWIFT and Corporate Communication, who presented the cheque for 20,000, noted that all hands must be on deck to help stop COVID-19.

“We must stop COVID-19 from wreaking havoc in underprivileged communities across the country. We hope the distribution of these masks will help provide a much-needed line of defence”.

Ms Victoria Michaels, the Chief Executive Officer of Fashion Connect Africa, who received the cheque, expressed gratitude to the company for the support.

“We are touched by this kind gesture and the speed with which Dalex Finance has supported this project. We pledge to produce and distribute these masks very quickly as COVID-19 is on a steady rise,” she added.

Dalex Finance is a wholly owned Ghanaian and Specialised Deposit-taking institution licensed by the Bank of Ghana, which had been in operation since 2006.
