Sunyani, Feb. 27, GNA – The Achirensua Senior High School Sixth Form class of 1992 (Achisco ’92) has congratulated Madam Justina Owusu-Banahene, the former Sunyani Municipal Chief Executive on her nomination as the Bono Regional Minister (RM) designate.
All things being equal Mad. Owusu-Banahene is expected to successfully sail through her vetting by the parliamentary vetting committee for approval by the eighth parliament of Ghana’s Fourth Republic to become the third Regional Minister for the Bono Region.
Affectionately called ‘Awo Baatanpa’, to wit, a mother of tender loving care by her political admirers and acquaintances for her highly receptive nature, and politically open-arm stance, she would become the second female to occupy that position.
This was contained in a press release issued by the group and signed by Mr. Thomas Asante Mensah, a Journalist by profession and an executive member, and copied the Ghana News Agency (GNA) over the weekend in Sunyani.
The release said President Akufo Addo’s nomination of Mad. Owusu-Banahene was an indication that he was a visionary leader.
It was not surprising, therefore, said the release that “Nana Akufo-Addo in his political wisdom has penciled the very approachable, hardworking and nationalistic Mad. Owusu-Banahene to bear the torch of the Bono Region.”
“We the Achisco ’92 Sixth Form Group became elated but were not surprised to hear of her nomination because “she is more than qualified and deserves to occupy that position”, it said.
“As our Assistant Senior Girls’ prefect, we remember the dedication with which she partnered other colleague prefects to champion the cause of students, particularly ensuring discipline among female students and promoting high academic standard.”, the release stated.
It expressed the hope that Mad. Owusu-Banahene would combine her rich political, academic, and leadership experience in collaboration with traditional authorities and other stakeholders to effectively steer the affairs of the Bono Region.
The release, therefore, appealed to the chiefs and people of the region to support and offer Mad. Owusu-Banahene the necessary cooperation for the speedy progress of the region.
