Kabul, Jan. 19, (dpa/GNA) – Taliban attacks left at least 20 soldiers dead in two parts of Afghanistan’s northern Kunduz province, provincial council chief Yousuf Ayoubi said on Tuesday.
The militants attacked facilities of the soldiers in Dasht-e Archi district as well an area in the provincial capital city overnight, Ayoubi said.
According to Ayoubi and another councillor, Aminullah Aydin, another seven were wounded in the attacks.
Taliban and the ministry of defence have not yet commented on the incidents.
Kunduz is among the most volatile provinces in the north of the country, with the majority of its territory controlled by Taliban militants for years.
In 2015, the province fell to the militants for two weeks before they were pushed back by the Afghan security forces.
