Accra, Jan. 30, GNA – Great Olympics beat their city rivals, Hearts of Oak 2-0 in a thrilling match-day 11 league game played at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Both goals were scored in a space of four minutes in the first half.
Gladson Awako’s stunning free-kick just outside the penalty box of Hearts, put his side in the lead, 13 minutes into the game.
Maxwell Abbey doubled Olympics lead four minutes later with a delicious strike.
Hearts upped their game, pinning Olympics to their half of the field.
They came close to reducing the deficit through Omar Manaf but his well struck shot from about 20 yards agonizingly flew past the goalposts.
Minutes later, Olympics goalkeeper, Saeed Salifu, denied Hearts striker Victor Aidoo from scoring with a superb save.
Olympics, against the run of play, nearly got the third goal but Abbey’s delicate chip hit the roof of the net.
Olympics stood firm and neutralized everything thrown at them till the final whistle.
