Accra, Jan. 18, GNA – Members of the professional security community, Monday, received the news of the passing of the National Security Coordinator, Joshua Kyeremeh, with shock and sorrow.
Mr Kyeremeh, a veteran intelligence professional, died Monday morning at the Ga East Municipal Hospital, in Accra, after a short illness.
Some security officers, who worked with him, told the Ghana News Agency in an interview that Mr Kyeremeh was as an exceptional gentleman and a seasoned officer, who rose through the ranks at the Bureau of National Investigations, and headed it from 2005 to 2009. He served the institution for more than two decades.
He was “humble, unassuming and the epitome of kindness”, said one officer, to buttress what others had said.
He prioritised merit in recruitments and promotions to ensure productivity and professionalism, they said.
Mr Kyeremeh was also passionate about capacity building for the staff and a champion of gender equality, thus appointing a female as his special aide.
He was appointed National Security Coordinator, in January 2017 by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
He was a member of the 15-member 2020 Presidential Transition Team.
