Accra, Jan. 17, GNA – The La Pleasure Beach has its covid-19 safety protocols prioritised as revelers visited the place on Sunday to have fun.
The beach, following government’s directive on the precautionary measures to curb the spread of the disease, has mounted hand washing stations at its entrance, checks the temperature of visitors with thermometer guns, and ensures everyone wore a mask before being granted access.
Management also ensured that alcohol-based hand sanitizers were provided at vantage points for patrons while notification on covid-19 safety protocols were visible at all points.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency, Mr Aban Nunoo, a staff of the Beach, said management was particular about its number one protocol – “No swimming”.
He said it also had designated isolation areas in case of any emergency.
“We have notebooks to take contacts of persons whose temperature are above 37degrees to ensure contact tracing if necessary,” Mr Nunoo said.
He expressed dismay about the reluctance of the Ghana Tourism Authority to allow the beaches to operate even though they were observing the safety protocols.
“We follow all directives given to us by the Ghana Tourism Authority but we still don’t know why they don’t want us to operate. We are pleading with the Government to intervene so we will be able to host shows over here to boost the activities of the beach,” he said.
