Half-Assini District Police Commander allegedly commits suicide

Half Assini (WR), Jan. 30, GNA – The Half-Assin District Police Commander, Superintendent of Police Cyprian Zenge, has allegedly killed himself.

Superintendent Zenge was found dead with gunshot wound at his residence at about 0700 hours on Saturday, January, 30, 2021.

A note found read at the scene reportedly read : “I am fed up in this world”.

The head of Public Affairs of the Western Regional Police Command, Deputy Superintendent of Police Olivia Adiku, confirmed the incident to the Ghana News Agency, in Takoradi.

“The Regional Crime Scene Team has already visited the scene, where he was found sitting in a blue chair with gunshot wound on his forehead, with his pistol beside him on the floor and one spent ammunition under the chair,” the Regional Police Command later said in a statement, copied to the the GNA.

“Although preliminary investigation points to suicide, the investigation is opened to unravel the true circumstances leading to the death of the Officer.

“The death has been communicated to the officer‘s family….”.
The Regional Command urged all media practitioners to be sensitive and circumspect in their reportage or commentary on the matter as investigation continued.

Meanwhile, the remains of Supt Zenge, who was 57, has been transported for preservation at the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital.

He hailed from Nandom in the Upper West Region.

His immediate family resides in Accra.
