Damascus, Dec. 25, (dpa/GNA) – Israeli rockets targeted Syria’s Hama province early Friday, the Syrian state agency Sana reported, citing the country’s military.
The projectiles apparently targeted military positions near Masyaf, according to the report. Syrian air defences sought to repel the rockets.
More detailed information on possible casualties or the targets of the attack was initially not immediately available.
There was also no initial comment from Israel.
Israel has carried out more than 30 airstrikes against targets across Syria so far in the present year, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
Israeli attacks in war-torn Syria have been seen as an attempt to prevent Iran, a key ally of President Bashar al-Assad, from building up its military influence in the region.
