Accra, Dec. 1, GNA – Voting has started smoothly at Darkuma Police Station in the Ablekuma North Constituency of the Greater Accra Region on Tuesday.
The Ghana News Agency during a visit observed that most of the electorate who were in queues had on either a face mask or face shield and observed all COVID-19 protocols whiles waiting patiently to cast their ballots as voting started at 07:05 hours.
Some of the electorates told Ghana News Agency in an interview that they got to the centre at 04:00 hours to be able to vote early and start their normal daily activities.
Basic equipment used for COVID-19 protocols such as Veronica buckets with water, soap, tissues, and sanitizers have been provided by the Electoral Commission.
Mr Kofi Nyarko, Presiding Officer for the Center, told the GNA that a total of 431 electorate are expected to vote.
He said all materials needed for the election such as ballot papers, Biometric Verification Device, indelible ink, validation stamp, enumeration sheets for men and women, wet wipes and sanitizer were all available.
He said voting is expected to end at 17:00 hours.
