Special voting exercise progresses in Sunyani West Constituency

Odumase (B/R), Dec. 01, GNA -The Electoral Commission’s (EC) special Voting exercise for personnel of the various security agencies is underway in the Sunyani West Constituency of the Bono Region.

In all 235 eligible voters are expected to cast their ballots in the 2020 special voting presidential and parliamentary elections, which started exactly 0700 hours without hitches.

During a visit to the Odumase Methodist school park where the exercise is being conducted, the Ghana News Agency (GNA) sighted voters in a queue, patiently waiting to cast their ballots.

Agents of the various political parties including the New Patriotic Party (NPP), National Democratic Congress (NDC), Convention People’s Party (CPP), Progressive People’s Party (PPP) and the People’s National Convention (PNC) as well as an independent candidate were also sighted.

As at 0745 hours about 15 voters had cast their ballot, and Mr Kofi Gamale, the EC’s Presiding Officer indicated no incident had happened.

He said all election materials including COVID-19 personal protective equipment arrived on time and expressed the hope that the calm atmosphere would continue for a successful exercise.

Mr Gamale said voters were mandated to wash their hands with soap under running, and use hand sanitizers before they were allowed to go through the voting procedures so as to stem any possible spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
