Ghana’s Ambassador to Denmark supports Rebecca Foundation

Accra, Dec.01, GNA – Ghana’s Ambassador to Denmark, Mrs Amerley Ollennu Awua-Asamoa, has presented medical equipment to the Rebecca Foundation.

The donation is in support of the Foundation’s health outreaches and part of the Ambassador’s commitment to the improvement of basic healthcare and infrastructure in the country.

The items are from Sygehus Sonderjyland Hospital in Denmark, secured in partnership with the Global Medical Aid, a Danish Non-Governmental Organisation.

They include 200 hospital beds and mattresses, respiratory equipment and 21 bedside cabinets.

A news brief made available to the Ghana News Agency said Mrs Awua-Asamoa expressed gratitude to management of the Hospital and promised the commitment of the Government of Ghana to improve health infrastructure for all Ghanaians.

“The Government of Ghana is fully committed to achieving the Sustainable Development Goal of ensuring healthy lives and promoting wellbeing for all, and this donation will draw the nation closer to realising that dream,” she said.

Mr Peter Fosgrau, Chief Executive Officer, Sygehus Sonderjylland Hospital, was hopeful that the equipment would be beneficial to Ghanaians.

Mrs Awua-Asamoa has partnered several Danish institutions to donate drugs and medical equipment, worth in excess of ten million dollars to some institutions in Ghana, including the Rebecca Foundation, the Ghana Baptist Convention Medical Centre, and the Wenchi Methodist Hospital.

In February, the Ambassador led a medical team to explore possible areas of support in Ghana’s healthcare sector.

The team also paid a courtesy call on the First Lady, Mrs Rebecca Akuffo-Addo, whose NGO, the Rebecca Foundation, is engaged in health outreaches across the country.

The First Lady commended the Ambassador for the initiatives and praised the Global Medical Aid for its continuous support to health facilities in Ghana.

She called for closer collaboration to make the dream of improving access to world-class healthcare in Ghana, a reality.
