ACCRA, Dec. 1 (Xinhua/GNA) – Two Ghanaian representatives in the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Champions League and Confederation Cup began the competition with draws on Sunday.
In the CAF Confederation Cup, Ghana’s Ashanti Gold was held at home to a scoreless draw by Salitas of Burkina Faso in the preliminary round first leg.
The Ghanaian side failed to convert numerous opportunities into goals, especially in the second half.
Salitas will host Ashanti Gold in the second leg next week in Burkina Faso’s capital Ouagadougou.
Elsewhere, Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC secured a 1-1 draw away against Mauritanian side FC Nouadhibou in the CAF first leg of the preliminary round on Sunday.
The Ghanaian side was the first to score in the opening minutes of the game, though the home side equalized in the 21st minute through a penalty.
Kotoko will host the Mauritanian champions in the reverse fixture in a week’s time at the Accra Sports Stadium.
