Dawhenya to get 10-bed hospital

Dawhenya (GAR), Dec 5, GNA – Residents of Dawhenya in the Ningo-Prampram District, are to be provided with a 10-bed hospital within six months following a sod-cutting for the commencement of work.

The project to be named “Dawhenya Government Hospital” is a Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) arrangement between the Ningo-Prampram District Assembly (NIPDA) and Melcom Group of Companies.

Mr Jonathan Teye Doku, Ningo-Prampram District Chief Executive, said he decided to look for investors to partner the Assembly to develop available lands in various communities within the District.

Mr Doku indicated that the investors would Build, Operate and Transfer (BOT) after recouping their investment, adding that they were expected to complete an abandoned CHPS compound started by the Agapet Filling station.

He added that as part of the arrangement, parts of the land would also be developed into a commercial entity.

He appealed to other investors to partner his outfit to develop a land at Tsopoli into a major bus terminal to convey travelers to Togo, Benin, and Burkina Faso, adding that another parcel of land at Mataheko was also available for development into a market.

Mr Francis Sam, spokesperson for Melcom Group of Companies, thanked the Assembly for allowing the company to partner it in the construction of the hospital and gave the assurance that his outfit was looking forward to embarking on more partnership to develop the area.

Mr Ishmael Ashitey, Greater Accra Regional Minister said to complement government’s policy of bringing health near to the people, the government tasked all Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) to make land available for the construction of district hospitals.
