Barcelona, Nov. 17, (dpa/GNA) – Atletico Madrid striker Luis Suarez has tested positive for coronavirus and will miss this Saturday’s meeting with his former club Barcelona in La Liga.
The Uruguayan Football Association issued a statement on Monday confirming the news: “Tests have been carried out on all the members of the senior national team, resulting in the players Luis Suarez, Rodrigo Munoz and the official, Matias Faral, testing positive for Covid-19.”
As well as ruling Suarez out of his weekend reunion with Barcelona, the club where he spent six seasons, the 33-year-old also misses his country’s meeting with Brazil on Wednesday.
And he is unlikely to be available for Atletico Madrid’s Champions League home game against Lokomotiv Moscow the following Wednesday.
