Kpeve (V/R), Oct. 8 GNA – Mr Ernest Patrick Kodzo Mallet, the Parliamentary Candidate (PC) of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the South Dayi Constituency of the Volta Region has filed his nomination to contest for the seat.
He said though the area was known to be a stronghold of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), he had no doubt that he would win the seat for the NPP during December 7 polls and urged the people to vote for him and the President Akufo-Addo.
Mr Mallet who was speaking to the media after filing his nomination on Thursday said the Constituency had not seen any meaningful progress in the past 28 that NDC has occupied the seat and the people yearning for the NPP.
The Parliamentary Candidate said there were massive and positive developmental changes in the area in the three and half years of the NPP led administration, therefore, the party deserved another four years to continue and complete the life fulfilling projects.
Mr Mallet said they were embarking on a very vigorous campaign to ensure that the good message of the party got to everyone in the Constituency as the party aimed at securing 60 percent of the total valid votes cast in the December poll.
The PC said, “we are determined to turn things round in the South Dayi and the Volta region” and called on party supporters to work hard to win both the Presidential and the Parliamentary elections.
Mr Pius Benedict Abadah, Returning Officer of the Electoral Commission at the constituency said the Commission was satisfied with the nomination form of Mr Mallet as all the requirements were met.
Mr Daniel Jerry Kaklaku-Dodou, the Constituency Secretary of the party said they would engage in the “retail and house to house” campaign due to the COVID-19 pandemic and also make sure that the promises of the party reached all and sundry.
He said every single issue that led to their abysmal performance in the 2016 election had been addressed and the party was well united and ready to unseat the NDC’s candidate, adding that, the constituency expects to record the biggest win for the President in the Volta region.
