Beirut, Oct. 14, (dpa/GNA) – Maritime border talks between Israel and Lebanon started on Wednesday at the United Nations offices in the border town of Naqoura, a UN source told dpa.
“The talks are taking place inside a conference room that belongs to the United Nations peacekeeping mission of the Italian battalion,” the source said, giving no further details.
The talks are being held under UN auspices in the presence of a US delegation headed by US Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs David Schenker.
A speech by the UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon Jan Kubis is scheduled at the beginning of the talks, according to the UN source.
No media outlets will be allowed inside the headquarters.
