Brekete (Ash), Oct. 12, GNA – A rice processing center constructed under the government’s ‘One District, One Factory (1D1F)’ Initiative to boost production of the staple crop has been inaugurated at Brekete in the Adansi-South District of the Ashanti Region.
The facility has a processing capacity of 140 bags of rice per day and was constructed under the supervision of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture and B. Kaakyire Agro Chemicals Company Limited.
It is expected to enhance the rice value and supply chain to the advantage of farmers in the District.
Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice-President, inaugurating the project, said a total of 76 projects had been completed under the Initiative and currently in operation.
According to the Vice-President, more than 200 factories were at various stages of completion under the 1D1F, stressing that the intent was to quicken the pace of the country’s economic growth through industrialization.
The government, he said, would continue to implement development policies designed for the betterment of the citizenry, thereby creating job opportunities and wealth for the people.
Alhaji Dr. Bawumia pointed out that the sustainable development of every country was dependent on the empowerment of its people.
Consequently, the government would not shirk its responsibilities in the construction of factories at the local level to bring enormous benefits to the people.
The Vice-President is on a four-day working visit to the Ashanti Region to inaugurate completed development projects and also inspect ongoing ones.
